Overview

Project involved all mechanical, electrical & plumbing scopes utilized to replace multiple chiller and boiler plants into a district cooling plant.  This $20+ Million new construction project was funded through a Design-Build-Operate-Maintain model and achieved 50%+ annual energy savings.

Craig Kaufmann PE, masterplanned this 12,000 ton and 40,000 lb/hr system. GEMM Founder K. Scott Sine PE was the Engineer of Record for the design, which included a free cooling heat exchange and elaborate weir system for the cooling towers, affording various water temperatures for optimized energy efficiency.

The masterplan’s “expandable” design interconnected several buildings throughout the 500-acre compound via a custom network of tunnels buried below the main access road, and has been successfully added on to at least twice during facility expansion over the years.

In 2004, Aventis merged with Sanofi and now known as Sanofi Pasteur, is a top 10 global pharmaceutical company with 2020 revenue in excess of $42 billion.
